97 nabbed for driving drunk Johannesburg - Johannesburg metro police arrested 97 people in a drunken driven blitz from 06:00 on Saturday to 08:00 on Sunday in Hillbrow, Yeoville and the city centre.

Metro police spokesperson inspector Edna Mamonyane said motorists suspected of drinking and driving were taken to the district surgeon to have their alcohol levels tested by drawing blood.

"Then we hand them over to the SA Police Service," she said.

Those arrested, and who could not pay bail, would appear in court on Monday for bail hearings.
