Bus driver charged with drink driving
A BUS driver taking a group of high school children to the New South Wales snowfields has been charged with drink driving and will face court next month.A police spokesman said the 54-year-old Belmore man's licence was suspended after he was breath tested by Goulburn highway patrol officers about 5pm (AEST). The test returned a reading of 0.175.
During the journey from Campbelltown Secondary School, the three teachers and 45 students aboard the bus became concerned about the man's driving, police allege.
When the bus made a scheduled stop, teachers contacted police, who arrived soon after, the spokesman said.
The man was taken to Goulburn police station, where further breath tests were conducted and he was charged with driving with a high-range proscribed concentration of alcohol.
He was granted bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court on September 7.
