Taking Care of Your Car

We all depend on our automobiles. They depend on us—to make sure they are properly maintained. Most people know about oil changes—every 3,000 miles is recommended—but what about other auto maintenance needs?

How about tires? You should check your tires for wear every month. Uneven tire wear might indicate that your car needs to be aligned. Badly worn tires should be replaced. While you’re at it, remember to check for proper inflation also.

You should have your brakes, front and back, examined periodically. Don’t hesitate to have them checked out if you feel that you have to depress the brake pedal more than usual to stop your car.

Fluid levels should be checked as part of every servicing, but you should check once a month also—engine oil and power steering and brake fluid. If you travel in areas with extreme winter conditions, you will need to check your fluid levels with more regularity: California online traffic school, or Washington defensive driving class.

Check those headlights, low and high beams. And brake lights, back up lights, signal lights, parking lights, and rear lights.

A good defensive driving class could be helpful in terms of helping you to develop the right car maintenance habits.

Ya know that even thogh the oil companies recommend that you get your oil changed every 3,000 miles my Honda manual say that you should change your oil every 5,000 miles. I think that the oil companies just like selling more oil. Get a defensive driving class and a manual and choose what you car needs.
